Main characteristics of upholstery fabrics

High-quality wholesale furniture fabrics from the manufacturer are beautiful, pleasant to the touch, resistant to various dirt and easy to maintain, and their quality is determined by the following characteristics:

  • Design. When choosing colors and patterns, you need to take into account interior solutions and the combination of the appearance of fabrics with the type of furniture.
  • Fiber composition. Furniture upholstery is made from natural, synthetic or artificial fiber raw materials (or combinations thereof). The type of fiber is selected taking into account the requirements for upholstered furnishings and their properties. Natural canvases are famous for their environmental friendliness, antiallergenicity, airtightness, but insufficient durability. Synthetic fabrics are durable, abrasion resistant. Artificial materials have excellent breathability, hygroscopicity and high wear resistance. To achieve the best quality textile products, Vega-Trade combines natural fibers with synthetic and artificial fibers in different proportions.
  • Density. This property characterizes the durability, wear resistance of the canvases. The quality of the material is directly proportional to its density. The minimum density for furniture textiles is 200 g / m2.
  • Abrasion resistant. To determine this property, various tests are used (for example, the Martindale test is measured in the number of cycles), and it characterizes the durability of textile materials. Viscose serves 6-10 thousand cycles, polyester velor - over 50 thousand. Vega-Trade materials withstand at least 20 thousand cycles.
  • Peeling – pilling procedure on furniture fabrics. Provided that no pellets appear on the material after 500 Martindale cycles, it is considered to be of good quality.
  • Color fastness – This is a coefficient characterizing the preservation of the original shades of images (under the influence of natural aging, direct ultraviolet radiation). Our company produces fabrics with a color fastness index of at least 4.
  • Air tightness – the ability of fabrics to pass air. Furniture items covered with breathable upholstery retain their original appearance, shape and structure for a long time.
  • The presence of impurities. To increase the strength, making it easier to care for the fabric, a protective impregnation is added to the composition of the canvases (the most common is Scotchguard or Teflon). Thanks to such means, textiles have improved properties of repelling dust, moisture and oily particles.
  • Fire resistance – characteristic indicating the degree of fire of the web. It is especially important for soft furnishings in public institutions (hotels, cafes, restaurants).
  • Environmental friendliness – a parameter indicating the percentage of harmful substances such as heavy metals, organochlorine compounds, pesticides.
  • Cleaning method (dry, wet).
